The genesis of the name of our little group, sanestorm, began with the acronym for the book whose introduction is attached below. I had been surfing Amazon.com the night before, looking for marketing books that might help me expand and improve my business library if not my actual brain. I had been frustrated, as had happened before, by the lack of books that include a clear definition of what the heck marketing is for; that is, the basic “why”s of all this marketing stuff we do. And if you don’t know the “why” of what you’re doing, the “what” and “how” will be, at best, hit-or-miss.

My subconscious mind went straight to work that night. Between dreams of albino orangutans and new versions of the TV show “Survivor” set in my elementary school, my frustrated brain must have been working on something. For, the next morning, in the shower, the acronym SANE popped into my head, ready made as the exemplar of sensible, creative marketing. And SANE =
